SARA SULYMA
Sara Sulyma (born 1993) is a Winnipeg-based music educator, composer, and arranger. A graduate of the University of Western Ontario (BMus ‘16; Dip, Arts Management ‘17; BEd ‘19), Sara has been playing bassoon in wind ensembles and orchestras across her home province of Ontario since 2010. From 2017-19, Sara conducted Western Chamber Music Orchestra, an extra-curricular ensemble at UWO that aims to provide non-music majors with an opportunity to continue creating music at the post-secondary level.
A member of Ontario Band Association, Ontario Music Educators’ Association, Women Band Directors International, and World Association for Symphonic Bands and Ensembles, Sara’s passion for lifelong learning and music education have led her to Toronto, Banff, Ottawa, Boulder, Chicago, Helsinki, Mariehamn, Stockholm, Prague, Salzburg, Budapest, Edinburgh, and more. She enjoys spending her spare time travelling and arranging music for instrumental ensembles.
