Description

In this work I adapted the the poem titled “Ode” by Arthur O’Shaughnessy. I used

his first verse and then part of the second but added my own poetry to give the work

a more contemporary sensibility. The underlined poetry is by O’Shaughnessy.

We are the music makers,

And we are the dreamers of dreams,

Wandering by lone sea-breakers,

And sitting by desolate streams;

World-losers and world-forsakers,

On whom the pale moon gleams:

Yet we are the movers and shakers

Of the world for ever, it seems.

Out from the farthest corners,

From the dazzling unknown shores,

Voices unbroken and steady,

Will take to the skies and soar;

Word keepers and truth seekers,

Keeping the dark at bey,

We will heed the calling

Of the world and enter the fray.

We are heart, we are bone,

We are fire, we are stone,

All are gold and silver.
